Experiment Number One
Experiments November 20th, 2006
For the past couple of months I have been pretty slacktastic with my sites. I have a couple of affiliate sites doing alright considering I put 0 hours of work into promos every month. I think it’s time to get back into the game though with some new experiments.
I am going to test my theory about just how important inbound links from “trusted” sites are compared to other types of links. I am going to toss up a hand full of new affiliate sites and a hand full of new content rich sites. I will test out massive amount of crap inbound links, context related links, and non-context related links from what appear to be trusted domains.
This may seem like a “duh” kind of thing to do but we’ll see. I really want to see if the context related links from non-trusted domains helps promote better than the links from trusted sites that aren’t context related.
I have a domain that Google appears to trust and after I put a link to my main affiliate site from said domain it seemed to greatly increase that site’s ranks. It could have been coincidence or some other factor but that’s what I hope to find out. If we are lucky we will also be able to find a nice formula for getting a site to be trusted and loved by our friend Google.
Along with that I am going to launch a barrage of RSSGM sites and see how they fare. I will use AdSense on them for revenue generation and a “fire and forget” mentality. I will simply whip up 50 or so sites and turn them loose. I will do some link building then just sit back and wait.
Finally, I am going to test out the content generator I built. It writes content that reads like text translated by a crappy online translator. I will compare the traffic generated by the RSSGM sites and the sites using my custom content generator. The one I built writes the content a word at a time using a database full of words organized by part of speech. Since it does that it never writes duplicate content so that is not a concern.
I will post again when the experiment officially starts and also when I get some stats to compare. This one is going to take a while…
