Experiment Update (again)…
Experiments, SEO March 5th, 2007
February is over and done with and I haven’t quite gotten the results I had hoped for. The system is working as designed the progress is just a little slower than I would like.
Here are the results from the past 3 months and so far this month using only automated site generation and promotion tools. Blog and Ping isn’t exactly automated but I had a little helper doing it for me so it was as automated as I could get.
- December 2006 - a fist full of sites launched and used only Blogger blogs (blog and ping) for promotion
- Page Impressions - 332
- Clicks - 39
- CTR - 11.75%
- Earnings - $6.57
- January 2007 - more sites, still doing blog and ping only.
- Page Impressions - 464
- Clicks - 82
- CTR - 17.67%
- Earnings - $20.94
- February 2007 - more sites, still doing blog and ping but added automated Wordpress comment posting
- Page Impressions - 751
- Clicks - 93
- CTR - 12.38%
- Earnings - $35.79
- March 2007 (so far) - no new sites, no more blog and ping, only Wordpress Comments until i get another tool built.
- Page Impressions - 69
- Clicks - 18
- CTR - 26.09%
- Earnings - $14.02
If March continues on the trend it is on then I should bring in a nice $86.92 this month which isn’t too shabby for 0 hours of work. It’s beer money at least.
So, as you can see my income is going up steadily every month just not as quickly as I would like. The one thing I can think of that is good about the slow growth is that hopefully the sites will last longer in the engines. By my traffic increasing gradually I am less likely to get noticed (in theory). It’s also important to note that all of these sites are on 1 ip address on 1 server that I have. I am using top level domains with a fist full of sub domains with a 5 level interlinking scheme. There should be no reciprocal links on any of the sites - they only link one way.
I theorize that if I setup lots more sites on lots more IP addresses and employ a couple more link dropping methods my income will increase faster until the sites start getting banned from the search engines. If I get some time to work on this I will do that and we can see where the experiment is next month.
