Expirement Update

Experiments, Projects, SEO January 6th, 2007

The experiment I outlined earlier didn’t get off the ground quite as planned.  I finally got around to finishing my massive site generation system and released that instead.

The site generator works by writing content in paragraphs from a database full of words.  It works off a number of variables to decide where to put keywords, how often to put them in a paragraph, and related keywords to use elsewhere.  My goal was to come up with a way to generate lots of pages of content and not have to worry about the duplicate content filters of the search engines.  The content that it writes reads like something translated from Portuguese by a crappy online translator.

I used several methods to get inbound links to the sites and to get indexed by the search engines.  With 3 sites and a total of maybe 5,000 pages indexed in the search engines traffic has been increasing somewhat steadily.  I started collecting data with the first release at the beginning of December.  From December 3, 2006 until January 1, 2007 I collected 300 page impressions and 39 clicks.  So far for January I have collected 131 impressions and 20 clicks.

This month I will release many, many more sites and kick the promotion methods up a notch.  I did a very small amount of promotion last month because I wanted to see how the engines treated the sites before I really kicked it into gear.  The engines treated the sites just fine and had no trouble spidering the pages.  This month I will utilize a whole set of underhanded and sneaky ways of getting traffic.

I will continually update my progress with this and I think it’s going to pay off very nicely.

I am calling the result for this experiment - SUCCESS.  I think this is a very viable way to generate income and can only get better with time.  I will automate as much of the leg work as possible to hopefully multiply traffic and clicks exponentially.

My next adventure will be driving lots more traffic to my CJ Affiliate sites and getting that going better.
